The Humanities First Program was founded to demonstrate the vibrant and fulfilling opportunities opened by a Humanities education. We believe that effective communication, empathy and critical thinking are essential to the future health and well-being of our society, and we take pride in empowering our students to apply these skills inside and outside the classroom in truly innovative ways.
While a generous grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has enabled us to launch Humanities First, we aspire to make this program a permanent, sustainable part of our Humanities curriculum at the UW. Gifts from community members like you will help make this possible. You can support Humanities First by donating below to our Humanities Innovation Fund or by going to the UW Giving site.
